Testimony from a G12
leader in Faith Community Baptist Church, Singapore
God took me in when I was so broken; I came from a
single parent family and used to bear a lot of unforgiveness
towards my father. I had no contact with my relatives, but
God brought reunification of my family in Faith Community
Baptist Church (FCBC).
I was baptized on 27 March last year , and was not aware that
my uncle -- my father’s eldest brother who is blind
-- was being baptized the next day. A cousin who attended
my uncle’s baptism saw my name printed in the baptism
list. My cousins and uncle contacted me; this brought reconciliation.
My uncle told me to bring my father to church.
The Lord convicted me after I had a long talk with my uncle.
So I brought my father to the Easter Chinese service last
year and he received Christ. Now my father attends Hokkien
Fellowship services. With the G12 system, I had no difficulty
finding someone to mentor my father.
I was very encouraged by my father’s
salvation. It motivated me to win my family for Christ. My
husband is a pre-believer and my family members are all in
idolatry.
My network pastor spoke to me about raising
me up as a G12 leader. I was reluctant as I doubted my ability
to lead people. Silently, I was thinking that, if I become
a leader, I will not have time to win my family for Christ.
Nevertheless, I asked God during service,
“Father, if it is really your will for me to be a leader,
please give me a confirmation and I will follow your commands”.
I went forward for prayer. The altar was flooded with people.
I waited and nobody came to pray for me. Suddenly, I heard
a voice saying “Look around, there are many people here
who needs a leader.” So I approached my network pastor
and asked her if I could pray for people. She agreed. I prayed
for a lady called June Yang. Later, I learned that she had
been attending FCBC for about a year with her friend Chloe
and they have no cell. I told them I would try to find them
a cell group.
I tried for a few days to find a cell group
for these two beautiful girls; when I spoke to my leader again,
she told me to mentor them. I prayed for a few days before
I took the courage to meet them. When I told them about my
conversation with my leader, they told me that they had been
thinking of taking me as their cell leader. I was shocked
and amazed. It was God’s confirmation, but I had too
little faith to see it.
God is good. Ultimately, we don’t depend on our own
strength to lead people, we depend on the Holy Spirit. He
guides me in mothering my spiritual daughters. God doesn’t
need us to be degree holders or successful to serve Him. He
just wants us to learn to lean on Him to lead our people.
I also set my network pastor, Ps Christina,
and my leader, Nira, as my role models on how to be a mother.
I remember how they loved and cared for me when I was a newborn
infant in Christ. Whatever I did not receive from my biological
family, my G12 family gives me. I receive lots of love and
affirmation from my G12 sisters.
As I started spiritual mothering, Nira did
a lot to guide me. I encouraged June and Chloe to pray for
their 3 by 3, just as my leader encouraged me. My sister-in-law,
June Teo, and my friend, Yeeyee, came to know Christ. Today
I have six beautiful girls in less than a year. This was fulfilled
through the 3 by 3 prayer strategy. I can never share the
joy of mothering in words, you have to experience it yourself.
When I feel down in my marriage with a pre-believer,
what keeps me going is the Lord’s love poured out through
my G12 family and seeing my spiritual daughters’ growth.
I tell myself I must be strong in the Lord because my children
will role model after me. I feel the Lord’s affirmation
through their prayers for me, and from this,
I realised that Senior Pastor senses our love when we pray
for him. There is the heartbeat of four generations of love
here in my spiritual family.
Being a leader, I thought I would have no time to minister
to my pre-believing husband. I thank God for his sister June
who always helps to accompany my husband to church whenever
I am busy.
I also wondered how to minister to my mother and her relatives,
because her father (my grandfather) had been a medium. However,
God moves way ahead of me. My father saw one of my mother’s
sisters, Aunt Sharon, at the Hokkien service. My mother had
had no contact with her sisters all these years. I was excited
and reconnected with my aunt. I discovered that Aunt Sharon’s
daughter, Serene, was ill. I arranged for the cell to visit
Serene in hospital.
Aunt Sharon, Uncle Danny and Serene were baptised in March.
During their baptisms, I reconnected with another cousin,
Jenny. Guess what? My grandmother and Jenny accepted Christ
on the same day. Now, my grandmother attends Hokkien services.
Through Jenny, I met up with her family. As I mentor Jenny
now, we are also befriending her family.
I thank God for all these salvations within
such a short period of time. I thank God for reuniting my
family in FCBC. I see the goal of all my family members’
salvation growing closer and closer. Now, June is praying
and working towards my in-laws’ salvation. And Aunt
Sharon tells me, “I will work on the older ones in the
family and you work on the younger ones.” Our family
works hand in hand in the Vision!
As I prepare this testimony, sometimes I
feel I really don’t deserve all these! But our God is
a good God; he loves us truly by putting us under the G12
leadership of Senior Pastor. I thank God for His vision through
FCBC which has made me victorious in Christ both in depth
and in numbers.
